About Us
Mesa View Mortuary was established in 1985 as a partnership between Memory Gardens of Delta County Cemetery and Ray and Alice Penick. New mortuary facilities were built adjacent to the cemetery at that time. The business grew from our commitment to serving all families with compassion and skilled professional care. We believe that families have a right to personalized funeral service in an environment that allows the bereaved to grieve and remember their loved one in a way meaningful to them.
We at Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery have a strong commitment to the families we are asked to serve and to the community where we live and work. Our goal is to be a community resource for all services related to grief and loss. Over the years the specifics of that goal have changed, but have remained based in the belief that the better informed one is about the events and needs after the death of a loved one the better one is able to work through the valley of grief. Therefore, our services do not end at the cemetery or when the bill is paid. We consider our responsibility to be long term. Please refer to our "Community Support Activities" for more details.
In 1992 Mesa View Mortuary purchased Roberts Funeral Home, Delta, Colorado and moved that facility to our location.
Ray and Alice Penick purchased Memory Gardens of Delta country Cemetery upon the retirement of the former cemetery owners. The name of the cemetery was changed to Mesa View Cemetery at the that time.
We generally consider our service areas to include the entire Delta county and parts of Montrose county, but are available to respond to the family needs regardless of the location. It should also be noted that families may request the services of the mortuary or cemetery or both; and that we, of course, serve all cemeteries.
